New America

This summer I worked as a health policy intern at New America, a think and action tank in Washington, D.C. I compiled news briefs and took notes on hearings, events, and conferences for the team. I worked on updating and developing content for the Beat The Virus and Snap to Health campaigns and helped prepare a report on the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. I contributed to work compiling and synthesizing information about the COVID-19 for a presentation to stakeholders. Throughout the summer, I worked on a personal research project on mental health policy innovation and presented my findings to my team. This was an excellent opportunity to learn about the ins-and-outs of policymaking and meet people working on issues critical to our everyday lives. I had a great experience working at New America and getting to know my colleagues. I worked with interns from several other universities and enjoyed learning about their experiences and perspectives.
